Learn to Age Well from Actress Mitsuko Kusabue
Hello everyone!
The other day I saw actress Mitsuko Kusabue on TV talk show called “Tetsuko’s Room”. She appeared numerous movies and TVs and is one of the most honorable actresses in Japan.
She turns 88 in this October. She ages so well and gracefully, doesn’t she?!
The lady in red dress (right) is Tetsuko Kuroyanagi, who is the host of this show. This show is well-known like Opera’s show in the US and probably she is the most famous celebrity in Japan. She is 88, too.
Both of them are my role models and I would like to age like them with grace and elegance…
I saw some articles about wellness tips of Ms. Kusabue, so let me share some:
- What she eats in the morning : Her morning starts with a glass of smoothie. She uses leafy green (Japanese mustard spinach), cabbage, carrot, celery, lemon, apple, banana, sesame, soybean flour and yogurt.
Also, she eats a piece of baked sweet potato to consume dietary fiber, and drink a cup of green tea with a piece of umeboshi. Umeboshi is a Japanese pickled plum which is very sour. 2) She takes bath every day.
To overcome her cold-sensitive constitution. I heard this symptom is not so recognized in foreign countries. In Japan, this is considered as a typical symptom especially for women and have to be improved because it slows blood circulation. In her case, she takes bath of 40 degree Celsius every day for at least 10 minutes, even in summer.
3) Her exercise routine:
She stretches her entire body every day and does Kaatsu training once a week with her personal trainer. Kaatsu means “adding pressure”, so the method of training is to tie your arms and legs with special bands to limit blood flow, before training. According to this method, limiting blood flow maximizes the training effect in short period of time. You can learn more about it from wikipedia. (Just be aware that you have to be trained by an properly trained instructor, otherwise it is very dangerous).
